Our Story
Central residential air conditioning was just getting its start in the early 1970’s. Before then the only way you could escape the brutal summer heat was with very expensive window units. Many homes in the south had attic fans as a lower cost alternative to window units. At night, you would crack the windows and turn on the attic fan, and the cool night air would be pulled through the house and blown out of the attic. Many homes did have central heating. The term “add on” air conditioning was coined because it was common place to add on air conditioning to the existing central heating system in the 1970’s. Seeing the need and demand for add on air conditioning, Raymond Martin started his own air conditioning and heating business on August 1st, 1970 in the Houston metro area. We know it is hard to imagine a time when homes didn’t have air conditioning. Of course, this is standard in our hot climate today. We can only imagine how happy customers must have been when Mr. Raymond Martin completed the central air conditioning installation in their homes.
Mr. Martin not only cared for his customers but also wanted to do his part for the industry, In 1977, he started teaching air conditioning and heating at San Jacinto community college. He ran his business and helped train the next generation of air conditioning technicians for 20 years before retiring from teaching in 1997. Mr. Martin’s son, Randall “Randy” Martin, had worked side by side with his dad since the early 1980’s, and took over day to day operations to help out the family business. In December 2007, Mr. Martin officially handed the business over to Randy.
Randy Martin worked to serve the thousands of customers who had grown to trust the Martin family since the early seventies. This level of commitment to serve others is what drove Randy to keep the business going and growing. Seeing the need to serve clients at a higher level, our plumbing services have been added through the years. This enables our customers to use someone they already know and trust for other services. We are proud to be a full-service company for our customers. Randy Martin retired in 2019, and we continue the commitment to service that was started by his father in 1970.
